FAQs
Why should I be baptized?
Jesus commanded that we be baptized as a public profession of faith (Matthew 28:19-20).
What does it mean to be baptized?
Getting baptized means that you identify with Christ’s sacrificial death, burial and resurrection from the dead (Colossians 2:12). It tells the world that you declare yourself a follower of Jesus.
In the years following Jesus’ resurrection, the early church would baptize new believers in a nearby river or lake. Before entering the water, the new believer would take off their outer garment. After emerging from the water, they would be given a new outer garment, symbolizing the passing of the old life and the new believer being made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Why should I be baptized by immersion?
Jesus was baptized by immersion (Matthew 3:16), and every other baptism described in the Bible was also by immersion (Acts 8:38-39). Additionally, the Greek word, “baptizo,” means “to immerse.”
What can I expect?
Baptisms are celebrations! They are an event that you can invite your family and friends to experience your life-changing decision to follow Jesus. Everyone is welcome!
What should I bring?
Please bring a towel, a camera (to document this important occasion!), a change of clothes for your comfort on the drive home and a willingness to follow Jesus through believers' baptism!
